Band of the Week..

BIG DEAL...

‘You know there’s not much you can count on, so hold me, don’t scold me.’

So I've decided I'm going to do a 'band of the week' post every Sunday and the first band I wanted to show you guys is 'Big Deal' the duo have five amazing songs out at the moment my favorites being 'locked up' and 'homework'. The band have used only electric guitars in their forthcoming album, and I love Alice Costelloe's voice, the band make for an awesome summer listen and are playing festivals such as Wireless and Leeds and I personally can't wait to catch them at Reading Festival in August. The band are touring at the moment so head over to their Myspace to check out their upcoming events and tracks. http://www.myspace.com/weareabigdeal

Party Dress.

Well today it’s my Nan’s 80th birthday party, there is going to be a lot of family there and the perfect time to catch up with the family i’ve not seen for a long time. I bought a dress especially for the occasion. It’s green, which I don’t really wear a lot of so I was a bit weary of this when I first bought it, but I thought it looked really good on, the shape was flattering and also it was the last one in my size in petite, so I figured it must be fate. I paired it with my new heels I bought from Topshop as well, I thought the simple black heels would work with the dress well. I definitely was a bit worried about the open cut at the front seeing as I was seeing my family but I bought some tit tape to avoid any awkward moments.

My first pair of TOPSHOP heels.

So these are my first pair of Topshop heels. I’ve always loved the heels in Topshop but I could never afford them (to be honest I still can’t, but I had a little help from my over draft....I love being a student.) So I was considering buying a different pair of heels but then I realised I didn't have any just plain black heels, which every girl should have because they really do go with anything! I wore them on my last night out at University before heading home for the Summer, they look amazing and they're definitely high which is perfect for me, being a small 5'1'' the boost definitely helps me appear taller, but oh the humiliation of falling over in front of a group of students, I'm going to need some more practice walking around my house in them before I wear them out again. :)

CFDA Fashion Awards 2011

The CFDA Fashion Awards was hosted in New York yesterday, June 7th.
The council of Fashion Designers in America were joined by designers, fashion icons and models in honouring the fashion winners last night. The ceremony took place at Alice Trully Hall, Lincoln Centre and for the tenth year in a row was held by Swarovski.
Here are six of my favorite fashion looks that were seen on the red carpet:

Lady Gaga, never to upstaged took the red carpet by storm in her custom gown and shoes, and not surprisingly walked away with the Fashion Icon of the year award.

Two of my favorite style icons Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen made an appearance wearing Cartier jewelry and Lewis Vuitton shoes.

Jesia Chiminazzo in a petite lace dress and peep toe heels.

Karolina Kurkova looked stunning wearing Diane Furstenberg, a designer I have always admired.

Leigh Lezark wore Helmut Lang, her simple understated look was perfect for the nights awards.

Actress Kirstin Dunst arrived looking elegant in Patrick Ervell.
This was one of my personal favorite looks from the night
